If you could take just 3 makeup items with you to a desert island, what would they be?
I'm pretty sure you've all been asked this question before?!
I'll be honest... the question usually asks for only 1 makeup item (I know, shock horror!), but I always argue that this is totally unreasonable and manage to convince the person that choosing 3 is actually a compromise hehe.
Also, the much bigger problem here would be me stuck on a desert island. Yes, I'd be happy with my 3 items of makeup every day, but for those that know me, know that I wouldn't last longer than 24 hours on my own!
For this post, I'm going to concentrate on the most important makeup item I'd take to the desert island with me, and that is... concealer!
Concealer is such a staple part of my makeup kit. It can be used to help tired eyes, hide blemishes that just won't go away and can also be used as a highlighter.
There are 2 concealers that I've found over the years that work miracles... yes, they really are that good!
The first is very lightweight and is great for daytime use when you just need a little bit of coverage. The other is more heavy duty - and trust me, it doesn't shift! It's great when you want to achieve a fuller, more flawless coverage for nights out and special occasions.
The first concealer is by Urban Decay and is called: Naked Skin, Weightless Coverage in shade Fair Neutral. It has a very silky texture and glides onto the skin effortlessly making it suitable for all skin types and ages. It's best applied using a damp beauty blender and because it's such a buildable product, you can choose to add more until you are happy with the end look. Just remember, when using concealer under the eyes, be gentle with your blending motions to ensure you don't get the product sitting in any fine lines. This concealer by Urban Decay really is a great addition to anyone's makeup kit and will become a product you reach for every day. So... be gone tired eyes, be gone blemishes - we now have a magic wand!
The second concealer is my all time favourite - as you can see from the picture below, I won't be parting with it any time soon!

This concealer is by Tarte and is called: Shape Tape, Contour Concealer in shade Fair Beige. This concealer comes in a wide range of colours, which makes finding the right one for you easy. Something you do need to consider when choosing the right shade is how you will be using your concealer. If you want to use it to help cover stubborn blemishes then you'll need to match it closely to your skin. If you want to use it to help brighten tired eyes, and highlight certain features on your face, then you'll need to go slightly lighter.
As mentioned before, this concealer really does provide a flawless finish. It's thicker in consistency and also dries a little quicker than the Urban Decay concealer, so you'll need to ensure you're working with the product quickly so it doesn't sit in your lines. It's best applied using a damp beauty blender and because it's so full coverage, you won't need more than 1 application. It really is magical!
So... there you have it, my top 2 concealers. Also, who thinks I can get away with taking both with me to a desert island?! I mean, the question asked what 3 items I'd take, it didn't say how many of each item is allowed...
