Eyebrows are sisters, not twins!

I'm getting back to basics today and talking eyebrows! Eyebrows are such an important part of your routine to invest in and get right. I'm going to be talking you through the products I use and love, and how I help my poor little sparse (almost non-existent) eyebrows actually exist! But first, let's not forget: 'Eyebrows are sisters, not twins!'

I read that quote many years ago and it really stuck with me - probably because I can relate to it on a daily basis (I mean, can't we all?!).

I could spend hours, literally hours, trying to create the perfect brow shape each morning and then I remind myself - eyebrows are not meant to be identical!

First of all, let's not underestimate the power of a good brow. Learning how to create the right shape for you is so important, as getting it right helps to frame your face and enhance all your beautiful features.

However, let's not beat ourselves up too much if we can't get them completely symmetrical. It's important to try and create a natural brow, enhancing what you already have. Going overboard and adding too much length or too much width to your natural brow can overpower the rest of your look, and we're not going for the slug, mono-brow... although maybe this will come into fashion one day?!

Since I was about 16 years old, I've shaped my brows by waxing them. I've also created some colour and depth to them by tinting them. I'm thinking of doing a blog post all about this in the future... but for now, I'm going to talk through the makeup products I use to help in addition to the waxing and tinting.

I use two main products to help enhance my brows and honestly, without them, I really wouldn't blame you for thinking I'd shaven my brows off. They are so light and sparse - if only I was blessed with Cara Delevingne's brows.

The first product I use is the MAC Brow Styler in the colour Spiked. This is essentially an eyebrow pencil, and probably the best one I've found on the market to easily transfer colour onto your brows. You don't have to press too hard to get the colour out, and it also has a very fine tip meaning you can be precise with your shape and ability to create natural brow hairs.

I always start by creating the outline of my brow by drawing a line across the top and then across the bottom. I create the arch when outlining my brows and ensure the tail of the brow isn't too long. To make sure you get the measurements right for you face, simply hold a pencil up to your nostril, pointing it straight up towards your hairline - this is where your brow should start. Next you hold it diagonally against your nostril going past your eye's outer corner - this is where your brow should end. If you're having difficult doing this, simply Google 'eyebrow mapping', and it will visually show you want to do.

I then continue to use the MAC Brow Styler to fill in the outline, pressing only lightly and creating natural hair strokes.

I next take the Urban Decay Brow Blade in the colour Brown Sugar and use the ink stain end to define and create even more natural hairs. This product is honestly amazing - it's also waterproof so your brows won't be coming off with sweat during hot weather, or during a downpour of rain!

You can see from the below video snippet, just how easy it is to use this product. Again, because the ink stain tip is so thin, you can be as precise as you want and create very natural looking brow hairs. I also use this product to add a little more colour and depth to my brows. You'd never know that deep down I'm an eyebrow baldy (is that even a thing?!) ha!

After using this product, my brows are usually all set for the day. However, if I'm going somewhere like a wedding or special occasion, I might go on to use my Benefit Gimme Brow volumising gel. This is a great product to use to help make your brows appear fuller... something I really need. I actually have some friends who are naturally blessed with beautiful, bushy brows and the Gimme Brow is the only product they use. So, if you're one of those lucky people then I'd recommend giving them a go. However, if you're more like me, and need a little more help, then the MAC Brow Styler and Urban Decay Brow Blade are absolute winners and you won't look back!

So, this is me... eyebrow complete... until I take them off at night!

Tell me, what brow products can you just not live without and have any of you tried microblading? I'm really tempted to invest and get mine done. Let me know in the comments box below!

It is completely worth it :-) I only use a brown brush - its like a mascara but for brows just to darken the hairs. But, I can leave the house and not even have to touch them. I have been following a lady in Windsor for a while to see her work, and I will be booking with her when the lock down lifts.

See, this makes me want to get it done even more now! I've been thinking about doing it for at least 2 years now. The thought of waking up in the morning and not having to create myself eyebrows is very tempting. Hmmm, maybe I should treat myself :)

I had mine micro-bladed about 3 year ago (time for a touch-up :-) ) - best thing I ever did as mine are blonde and thin.
