Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth

As most of you will know, I'm a real lover of quotes, and this one has to be one of my all-time favourites. Coincidentally, it's also very fitting to this blog post!
I recently put up a post on my Instagram page (go check out JesseJoyBeauty), all about the HiSmile Teeth Whitening Kit. Both people online and offline were curious, and asked me whether I thought the kit worked, and if they should invest too.
So, after successfully completing the course, I decided to put pen to paper (or in this case, fingers to keyboard!), and let you all know my honest opinion. If you want to know how I got on, and the results I got, then keep on reading!
Before I get into writing about the process and the results I got when using HiSmile, I just wanted to be upfront and transparent about the current colour/shade of my teeth. I've always had quite white teeth, (very lucky I know, especially considering the amount of tea I drink), but they had started to yellow over recent years. The yellowing mainly being on my canine teeth and my first and second premolar (oh check me out with my teeth knowledge!).
Growing up, my brother and I never missed a dentist check-up, nor would we ever be allowed to go to school, and later bed, without brushing our teeth for the full 2 minutes. My mum was like the teeth police, ha! But looking back, I'm so grateful that she encouraged us to look after our teeth from an early age. I'm 35, and I still have not had a filling! I know that won't last forever, but to say I've lasted this long is a real testament to my mum's nagging, and that it did pay off ;)
Before I purchased the HiSmile Teeth Whitening Kit, I did a lot of research online and read many reviews. I wanted to make sure that the vast majority of people had a good experience, because let's face it, you can't please everyone... and I was really encouraged by the number of success stories.
So, I decided to take the plunge and purchase their Teeth Whitening Kit.
I purchased directly through the HiSmile website, which was easy to navigate, and also had multiple reviews at your fingertips to read. HiSmile also provide video tutorials on their products and how to use them correctly. This is extremely helpful if you're more of a visual learner.
The Teeth Whitening Kit cost me £49.99, which is reasonable considering you get their mouth tray, LED light, and 3 gels which last you for 6 separate sessions.

You also get their colour/shade indicator. This really helps you monitor your progress and mark the shade you started and finished with.
Before I started with the whitening gels, my front teeth (top and bottom) were a shade 2, my canine and first and second premolars were a 3. It's always been my teeth situated at the sides which have yellowed most over the years.
You get very clear instructions with your kit, which tell you how to use the products and also when. I decided to do mine every evening after I'd brushed my teeth and before bed. I was a little apprehensive at first, thinking that the gel would trigger my sensitive teeth, but I was pleasantly surprised to find there was no discomfort. And if you're wondering, the gel has a mint flavour to it, (in case you're like me and think it might have tasted chemically... is that even a word?!)
I just want to add some verbiage here that HiSmile use to describe their Teeth Whitening Kit, (this being taken directly from their website):
'Our Teeth Whitening Kit has been designed to deliver results in 6 days. It is formulated with a peroxide-free active whitening ingredient that whitens and brightens your teeth without any pain or sensitivity'.
So, as you can tell from reading my journey so far, they were pretty spot on with their description and promise of a pain free experience.
I would say about half way through the course, I started to really notice a difference. My canine teeth were starting to life in shade, moving slowly towards a 2 on the scale.
My front teeth were still a 2 at this point, but I wasn't too disheartened considering I still had half the kit to go.

Just to mention here... in case you're thinking you have to invest long periods of time sitting with the mouth tray in... each session only lasts 10 minutes. There is a button on the LED light that is programmed to switch off automatically after 10 minutes. So don't worry, you can't fall asleep and forget! The LED light will switch off and also beep alerting you.
So, now for the results and my honest opinion.
After the full 6 days I DID see results! My canine and first and second premolar lifted from a clear shade 3, to a 2. My front teeth (top and bottom) lifted to a close 1 - which is the whitest you can get. I didn't experience any pain or discomfort throughout the whole process, and overall I'm extremely happy with the results.
I've had friends comment on how white my teeth have been looking, and my boyfriend refer to me as Ross from Friends... the episode where his teeth are fluorescent white. I'm taking that as a huge compliment, and that HiSmile 100% worked!

Would I recommend this to friends and family considering the price tag? Absolutely! However, I do think it's important to have realistic expectations. I lifted 1-2 shades, but if I started as a shade 7 or 8, I wouldn't expect to lift to a 1 over the course of 6 sessions. So, just be mindful of that before you start your journey.
I've recently purchased their gel refills, which retail at £18.99. This will provide me with a 6 further sessions, which I will use to top up my smile every now and again.
I also just wanted to call out their customer service and social media support. Throughout documenting my journey on Instagram, HiSmile have been extremely receptive, adding comments and advice throughout. They have also provided me with some aftercare and kindly added me on their HiSmileResults page.
I hope you've found this post helpful. Let me know in the comments box below if you decide to try HiSmile Teeth Whitening, and the results you get.
Speak next week,
Jesse Joy xx
