I don't know about you, but for me, finding the perfect makeup base has been an ongoing mission of mine.

I've spent many years trying out new foundations across multiple brands and price points, and for a long period of time, I thought I'd found The One. Now, don't get me wrong, I still love and use this foundation, even having previously dedicated a blog post to it called; My number one go-to product (go check it out!). However, a new foundation has recently entered my life, and it's pretty amazing, shout out to my beautiful friend that recommended it (you know who you are!).

If you're a foundation lover like me, then you'll be able to relate to the feeling of pure excitement I get when sitting fresh faced, ready to try it out for the first time. Unfortunately though, there have been many times when this excitement quickly turns to disappointment.

There's nothing worse, (OK maybe there is... but just go with me on this), than having read the product description promising flawless, radiant skin, to then looking in the mirror and seeing that not only has it gone patchy, but it also makes you resemble a little sweaty oompa loompa.

Well fear not! I've found a foundation that actually delivers on it's promises, yay! However, before I reveal all, I think it important to mention here my skin type and foundation preference. If you've read any of my previous blog posts, you'll know that I have oily/combination skin type. Typically, throughout the day my t-zone gets extremely oily, whereas other parts of my face can be quite dry and dehydrated. Therefore, I like foundations suited to a combination skin type, and that generally have good staying power and a matte finish.

I also like my foundation to be medium to full coverage, so if you like your foundations more light weight and natural, then this may not be the perfect match for you, but if you do.... then continue reading!

Let me introduce you to.... drum roll please.... the HD Brows fluid foundation.

The below description of this foundation, was taken directly from the HDBrows website and reads:

'Its creamy texture makes it easy to apply and blend for a perfect complexion. Available in 11 shades, our Fluid Foundation delivers full, flawless and long-lasting coverage with a matte finish that still feels comfortable on the skin.

Free from SPF, our Fluid Foundation doesn’t create flashback in photography (flashback = when the camera flash makes your face look whiter than your body even though it doesn’t in person). This makes it great for a big night out, a wedding or even just the perfect selfie'.

This foundations retails at £32, which is extremely reasonable for the amount you get (30ml), and the fact that only a little goes a long way.

I've found that when applying this foundation it works best with a damp beauty blender. It does dry pretty quickly on the skin, so you have to move fast with it. This really is the only down side I've found of this foundation, but as I say, if you used a damp applicator it helps and gives you more time to play with the product before it sets.

The foundation is available in 11 shades, which I do feel is a little limited compared to other brands. I purchased the shade Buff, which appears to be extremely popular as it's sold out on a lot of sites (already panicking for when I run out!).

The ultimate test for me was seeing if this foundation would last during a working day. As previously mentioned, by skin can get extremely oily, which is why I need a matte foundation with great staying power.

Now, don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting miracles, but I was pleasantly surprised at just how well this foundation stayed on during the day.

I still had to powder my nose several times (which is pretty standard for me), but the foundation didn't go patchy at all and stayed very even, and pretty flawless over a 10 hour period.

It also photographs extremely well, so great for those selfie shots! You can see from the picture above that it looks great in natural daylight, not too harsh or heavy. Equally, it's great under flash photography too, view picture below. It helps keep the shine at bay and makes your skin look extremely even, healthy and glowy.

I've had several comments about my skin since using this foundation, all very positive comments.

It's such a great feeling having found another little treasure which I can share with you all. I'd highly recommend trying this foundation if you like that fuller coverage look, and have combination/oily skin. I feel confident that you won't regret making this purchase, and that excited feeling will not turn into disappointment. (Can you tell how happy am I in the picture below?!).

If you've tried out this foundation before then let me know in the comments below! Also, if you too like medium/full coverage matte foundations, then let me know... I'm always tempted to try new products.

That's it for this week, I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Speak soon!
