Is it just me... or do you also feel naked without wearing lipstick?!

My love of lipstick dates back to when I was about 14. This love no doubt coming from my mum who is forever saying she doesn't feel fully dressed without her lipstick, carrying it everywhere with her! Over the years I've realised how much I have become like my mum... and not just in the lipstick department. When did we all hit an age where we start acting like our parents?!

I've spent lots of time and money in the past trying to find the perfect lip combination, my preference being a nude with a pink undertone. It's not just the colour you need to spend time getting right, it's also the quality of lipstick that doesn't dry your lips out and fade after your first cup of tea!

I will add now, that I like moistoursing/cream based lipsticks that achieve the gloss look effect - so, if you prefer matte lipsticks then the products I'm going to recommend won't necessarily be your cup of tea... (can you tell I like tea?!)

Before I reveal my perfect lip combination, I wanted to list some things you need to consider before creating the perfect lip combo for you:

- Really consider your skin tone before making your purchase. Anything too dark could come across too brown, and anything too light could wash you out. Remember, every lipstick colour looks different on different people, so a combination you like on your friend might not necessarily look the same on you... it really is all about trial and error. Something I will note here though is that brighter colours will tend to make your lips look bigger.

- Consider purchasing a lip liner to go alongside your lipstick, the lip liner should be in the same colour palette as your lipstick, but just slightly darker. Having a lip liner slightly darker than your lipstick helps to create the illusion of bigger, fuller lips. Don't go too dark though as you don't want a visible harsh line between the two.

- Laslty, I would advise investing in a good lip gloss - not one that as soon as you put it on your hair gets stuck to it... you know what I mean, highly frustrating! I personally feel investing in a good lip gloss goes a long way - they don't dry your lips out quickly and can make your lips look plumper. I again, always go for a gloss in the same colour as my lipstick, nothing to dense though as you don't want it to overpower the main colour.

So...time to reveal my perfect lip combo! There are two different combinations I wear on a day to day basis - the first being my absolute favourite:

- Lip combo one. Lipstick: Tom Ford Lip Colour Rouge A Levres, Colour OM Mason. Lip liner: Rimmel Exaggerate, Colour 063 Eastend Snob. Lip gloss: Dior Lip Maximiser Hyaluronic Lip Plumper, Colour 009

- Lip combo two. Lipstick: Charlotte Tilbury, Colour Kim K W. Lip liner: Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat, Colour Pillow Talk OR Rimmel Exaggerate, Colour 105 Under my spell. Lip gloss: Dior Lip Maximiser Hyaluronic Lip Plumper, Colour 009

So there you have it... a whole blog post on lipstick! I hope you've enjoyed and good luck finding your perfect shade.

And remember; 'Give a woman the right lipstick, and she can conquer the world!'
